Manistee Elks Lodge has
donated funds to local charities such as.
Women’s Resource Center Child & Family Services The Senior Center Big Brothers/Big Sisters Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts The Elks National Foundation
provides more than $3.64 million in college
scholarships each year
through its three scholarship programs. The application process and deadlines vary for each program. For information about Elks scholarships, please contact our lodge secretary. The mission of the Elks National
Foundation is to help Elks build stronger
communities. We fulfill this pledge
by investing in communities where Elks live and work. We provide tomorrow’s leaders, our youth, with a healthy beginning; honor the Elks pledge to never forget our veterans; help the state Elks associations accomplish their charitable objectives and fund projects that improve the quality of life in local Elks communities. Like all Elks, the Foundation values the belief that charity is the greatest of all virtues and that by sharing and giving we have the power to replace sorrow and despair with hope and confidence. Donations to the Foundation help us fund programs that match our cornerstone values of knowledge, integrity and community. View a Video About the Elks National Foundation The Michigan Elks will assist any
special needs child in Michigan, regardless of
race, creed, or color, who is
unable to obtain assistance from other agencies or organizations: whose family’s income will not allow them to give the child the needed treatment. Special needs are defined as any handicap in a child that restricts his or her ability to function in a normal manner. The main objective of the program is to assist children from one month to 12 years of age; however, ages up to 18 years will be given consideration. Assistance is typically medical in nature rather than
educational. The major goal is to help the
child become a self-sufficient, healthy,
contributing citizen.
The Michigan Elks Association
Charitable Grant Fund Scholarship commission,
also known as
the “Gold Key Scholarship Fund”, was established by the Board of Trustees of the Michigan Elks Association to provide a post secondary education scholarship for special need students – to be funded through individual donor contributions. For the purpose of this scholarship, special needs are defined as being physically or mentally challenged as may be approved by the Gold Key Commission of the Michigan Elks Association. This scholarship is intended to aid those qualifying applicants who could not otherwise continue the education or training past high school at either an accredited college or university or a licensed trade or vocational school to help them become self-respecting,
self-reliant, and self supporting members of
society. Special needs are defined as being
physically or mentally challenged, as may be defined by the Gold Key Commission of the Michigan Elks Association. A member lodge of the Michigan Elks Association must sponsor the applicant. |
